  6. This program simulates the cellular automaton model presented by P. Bak,
  7. C. Tang, and K. Wiesenfeld (Phys. Rev. Lett. 59, 381 (1987); Phys. Rev.
  8. A38, 364 (1988)) to illustrate self organized criticality.  Each site carries
  9. a positive integer representing the local slope of a sandpile.  If the slope
  10. exceeds 3, the site is unstable and on updating it drops by 4, adding one to
  11. each of his neighbors.  Sand is lost only at the edges.  Any state will relax
  12. to stability through such sand loss.
